Detective Lantern
Every Investigation Begins With a Clue
Welcome to Scripture Clues.
I’m Detective Lantern, your guide through the investigations hidden in everyday life.
Most people think Bible study begins by opening the Bible to a random passage and reading until something stands out.
I investigate a little differently.
Every day, we’re surrounded by clues.
A rap lyric.
A movie scene.
A television episode.
A sports interview.
A headline.
A social media post.
A conversation with a friend.
A personal struggle.
Sometimes those moments make us stop and ask,
“Does the Bible say anything about this?”
That’s where the investigation begins.
Why Scripture Clues Exists
I began noticing that songs, movies, conversations, headlines, and everyday experiences often reminded me of biblical stories. Instead of dismissing those moments, I started treating them like clues.
The more I investigated, the more connections I discovered.
Scripture Clues grew out of one simple question:
“Where have I seen this before in the Bible?”
What started as curiosity became a different way of studying Scripture.
Instead of simply reading a passage, I found myself investigating it.
Looking at what happened before.
Looking at what happened after.
Comparing stories.
Finding recurring themes.
Asking questions.
Following clues that eventually led me back to God’s Word.
I hope it does the same for you.
Who Is Detective Lantern?
Detective Lantern isn’t an expert standing above the investigation.
He’s a fellow investigator who believes every clue is another opportunity to open God’s Word.
His job isn’t to tell you what to think.
His job is to shine light on clues, connect the evidence, and encourage you to continue the investigation for yourself.
Every article is another case file.
Every clue is another opportunity to discover something new.
Living Between Two Worlds
Many of us believe in God while still living in a world filled with music, movies, television, sports, work, relationships, and everyday struggles.
Sometimes that creates questions.
Sometimes it creates conviction.
Sometimes it creates feelings of condemnation.
Scripture Clues isn’t here to shame you for asking those questions.
It’s here to encourage you to bring them to God’s Word.
As you investigate Scripture, you may discover areas where God is leading you to grow, change, or see things differently.
You may also discover that some of the assumptions you’ve carried about yourself, your faith, or the world around you deserve a closer look.
Whether your investigation confirms what you already believe or challenges you to see something differently, the Bible remains the place we return to.
Every investigation is another opportunity to grow in your understanding of God’s Word.
What You’ll Find Here
Scripture Clues was created for people who enjoy asking questions, making connections, and digging deeper into God’s Word.
Because curiosity has often been the beginning of spiritual growth.
Every investigation starts with something happening in everyday life.
Then we follow the evidence back to Scripture.
Along the way, we’ll compare biblical stories, discover recurring themes, examine the lives of biblical people, and ask questions that encourage us to keep reading.
Some investigations may remind you of a Bible story you’ve forgotten.
Others may challenge you to look at a familiar passage from a different perspective.
Some investigations may leave you with more questions than answers.
That’s part of learning.
Every clue is an invitation to open your Bible and continue the investigation.
How Every Investigation Works
Every investigation follows the same process.
The Clue
Something from everyday life starts the investigation.
It could be a song.
A movie.
A television show.
A sports moment.
A conversation.
A headline.
Or something you’ve experienced yourself.
The Investigation
We begin asking questions.
What does this remind us of?
Has something like this happened before in Scripture?
Who in the Bible experienced something similar?
The Evidence
We compare passages.
We examine biblical people.
We look at recurring themes.
We search for patterns throughout Scripture.
The Discovery
Sometimes we find clear answers.
Sometimes we discover new questions.
Either way, we’ve spent more time in God’s Word than when we started.
And that’s always worth the investigation.
Continue the Investigation
Scripture Clues is designed to help you investigate God’s Word, ask thoughtful questions, and make meaningful connections between everyday life and Scripture.
If you have a home church, I encourage you to take what you discover here back to your pastor, Bible study group, or church family. Share your questions, compare what you’ve found in Scripture, and continue the conversation together.
If you don’t have a church home, I hope these investigations encourage you to keep reading the Bible, asking honest questions, and seeking wisdom as you grow in your understanding of God’s Word.
The goal of Scripture Clues isn’t to end the conversation.
It’s to help begin one.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
Grab your Bible.
Bring your curiosity.
Follow the clues.
And let’s investigate God’s Word together.
The clue changes.
The investigation continues.
